Fidelia Obumselu

Fidelia Obumselu holds the ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor certification in Occupational Health and Safety Management System, Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) Managing Safely certification, IATA certifications in Ground Operations Documentation and ISAGO, Station/Ground Handling Management, Safety Management System, Quality Management System and certification in Risk Management, Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis. She has a Master of Arts Degree in English Literature from the University of Ibadan and a Bachelor’s degree from Imo State University; and has attended several skill-enhancing trainings on leadership, managing people and team bonding.

Fidelia’s career, prior to joining NAHCO, spans public relations, corporate communications, brand management, stakeholder relationship and events management in her years of work at both the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Lagos, and the CETEP City University, Lagos.

Within a few years of joining NAHCO, Management recognised her unique leadership and transformation qualities and therefore moved her from Corporate Affairs to core aviation ground handling functions, first to manage the passenger handling team. Her journey in operations gradually traversed leading the frontline team to pioneering and setting up the Quality Assurance department with the principal focus of re-orienting staff attitude to service delivery and customers’ expectations.

She is a focal point for external audits and corporate assessments as well as ICAO’s State Action Plan Committee, under NCAA, on Carbon Emission Control.

Before settling into her present role as Senior Manager, Safety and Quality, Fidelia had coordinated the ground handling functions of NAHCO company-wide in acting capacity for about two years.
